Setup (please complete the following information):

  • Distribution: [e.g. Ubuntu] Kubuntu (Geeqie installed via Flatpak)
  • Distribution release: [e.g. 20.04] 22.04 LTS
  • Geeqie version [geeqie --version]: Geeqie 2.4 GTK3

Describe the bug
I like to play around with Easy Diffusion as a form of assisted brainstorming (see how the model's preconceptions about a prompt differ from mine).

If I have its Autosave option turned on and leave Geeqie inside the current autosave folder, eventually the creation of a new image will cause Geeqie to crash.

To reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Point Geeqie at a folder ("Show thumbnails" being enabled may be necessary)
  2. Have something repeatedly create images in the folder until Geeqie crashes.

Error logs or seg. fault files

I'll try to make time to refresh my memory of how to get a core file from a Flatpak'd app and, if/when I do, I'll update you.

I'm curious if this has the same root cause (or is the same issue) as #1221

When you're carrying out the behavior that triggers this, are any images being overwritten? Or are they only ever being created? That issue is at a standstill, so it would be super helpful if this happens to be a different repro case.

It should only ever be creating them but I haven't tried monitoring the syscalls to verify that.
