Something strange happens when /cron/check_status executes because it seems to only log a portion of its log messages. It does produce particularly verbose logs so I'm not sure if we're exceeding some limit on the number of logs, but when I examine the logs, it does not appear to have everything.
Hypotheses for causes:
Too many log messages for a single request, GAE is cutting off the logs
Job is taking too long and GAE is killing the request before it finishes executing (though this doesn't really make sense because a deadline exceeded should show up in the logs instead of just a successful execution with missing entries)
