Creating a phone number service just like JMP but using matrix instead of XMPP. The following would need to be done...
This phone number service would not be free, it costs money to register and keep a phone number. And by offering this service, syphon can use this optional service and feature to generate money which can go to the development of the syphon client.
The reason for this besides using JMP is that JMP only has one client which is Cheogram, a fork of the Conversations app which is a XMPP client for Android. You can use any XMPP client for the most part but only the cheogram client has the dialpad in phone calls and contact integration. When you use JMP with a XMPP client on your desktop, you do not know who is who in your conversation list and when you get an incoming call, unless you know the phone number, you wont know who it is without answering thr call.
Syphon can be compiled on all mobile and desktop platforms with one codebase. Matrix is the future, not XMPP. However it will be years for phone calls and SMS becomes obselete. To have the ability to send and recieve a SMS message on any of your devices or make or answer a call on any of your devices is very useful. No need for a phone plan (Except for mobile data) and this allows for someone to have multiple phone numbers on all of their devices.
